The tide is turning
Roger Walters of Pink Floyd wrote his song ‘The tide is turning’ about Live Aid, but I thought long ago that it would make a great song for Barack Obama’s historic campaign. Unfortunately I never made a video mash-up using this song, but a chap called Bob Cesca also had the same idea and he did. He wrote about it at the Huffington Post, and frankly he did a far better job than I would have done. This is his video:

Talk about Jung’s collective unconscious. I’m from New Zealand I used a link to the original Roger Waters songs on news blogs back before Super Tuesday, to try and impart to people a sense of their own agency to make change happen – to recognize this opportunity. I remember putting this in the playlist with some other songs in a post on SF Gate when I was working to encourage people from San Fran to back Obama (he ended up taking San Fran).
Like you, I never could have done what Bob has done and he has done such a fantastic job of bringing that song to the movement. Here is this song from the late 80’s and it’s been picked up in your mind, mine and Bob’s and goodness knows how many others had this connection occur to them – and now it is manifest and it is powerful.
