What’s stirring in the nation right now
Thursday, October 16th, 2008This is truly inspiring.
Obama's Inauguration Ceremony: in 2 months, 0 days, 12 hours, 5 minutes, 8 seconds
This is truly inspiring.

Actually, that’s dentists, bikers, hunters and bee keepers for Obama.
That’s right: no demographic is left uncovered in the range of badges (or ‘buttons’, as our American cousins call them*) currently for sale at Democraticstuff.com. Well, possibly ‘McCain supporters for Obama’, but apart from them…
Personally, I’ve got my eye on this little beauty here: ‘Jazz for Obama’ (although I guess this site should really being promoting this one).
I’m a jazz chantoozie in my other life, you see - and in fact, I even managed to get Obama into a song at the weekend. I was performing at a wedding where there were some American guests, and during Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off, sang: “You say Obama, I say Obaahma”. It got a cheer - but I think that was for Obama himself, rather than for my piece of lyrical improvisation. That’s jazz (for Obama), baby!
*what do they call buttons?
Your country needs you!
Or rather: their country needs you.
Actually: the world needs you.
If you live in London, there’s a Barack Obama support group which is meeting up - and it needs volunteers to help get out the vote (and, erm, get those votes for the Democrats).
You can find out more about Obama London - and when and where it meets - here.
As the group’s organisers say: there are more than 6 million Americans living overseas, but sadly only a small fraction of them voted in the last Presidential election. This race is far too close to call right now - the Dems need all the votes they can get. Help get ‘em!
