Jon Meacham, the editor of Newsweek, was on The Daily Show on Wednesday night, in fact – talking about both his new book (about President Andrew Jackson) and the magazine’s inside scoop on this year’s election (that’s why I bought it, incidentally. I’m not just arbitrarily buying up magazines with BHO on the cover):

What an Absolute Sh**. I knew that Andrew Jackson was pretty dodgy from Simon Schama’s BBC programme, but Bloody Hell!! Did you notice he got in a few digs about the Clintons? Hmm. Which makes me slightly worried about the future administration. I’ve always had this worry that if they were part of Obama’s team I was worried they would take over a little. Please No, it’s been pretty good so far. Minus Rahm E.

Andrew Jackson!! I like Jon Meacham, always entertaining. Jackson’s character assassinations, and mudslinging about his opponents, even lead to the death of the wife of his opponent by severe stress during one Election campaign. It certainly makes the last campaign look a little tame.
