Obama wins by a landslide!
…in a small town in a mountain pass in New Hampshire. Well, more of a hamlet, really -
DIXVILLE NOTCH, New Hampshire (CNN) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama emerged victorious in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.
And that was a full voter turnout! Woo-hoo!
Hang on – shouldn’t John McCain be the winner in a place called Dicksville?
Seriously, though: this is the first time that Dixville Notch – which is always the first town to announce its results – has voted for the Democratic candidate since 1968.
And in 2004, they voted 19 for George Bush, 6 for John Kerry.
I’m just sayin’…

Hey!! That’s a good start. Personally I’m feeling the nerves, but I am 99.9% certain it’s done. Larry King has James Carville on this morning, who predicts a 9 point win, thankfully he didn’t use the L-word. I would make a prediction, but I don’t want to jinx this thing. But I’ll say I expect to see 300 EC Votes, or 350 plus if it’s unbelievably good. So if I don’t get chance to get back on here today, have a Good Night, sorry I can’t be there. But I’m sure it’s going to be pretty special.
Now I’m off to make a Lemon Meringue Pie!!
Enjoy

one final note on this result – a comment left on Politico:
“I went to bed early last night so I could get up early and vote. I knew going to bed that Dixville Notch had voted for McCain. I’ve been to the Balsmas and the election room many times and know the people there well. They always vote Republican. ALWAYS. I was SHOCKED to see they voted for Obama. The fact that pure, lilly white, very conservative Dixville Notch voted for Obama may not mean much, but it certainly gives me hope that the Bradley effect is dead. Thank you Dixville Notch. Miss you!” Posted By: courthousedoc

John joins the THOUSANDS of other Obama vets.
What about the hundreds of thousands that support John McCain?
This vet does NOT speak for them.

I have to question Obama’s mettle and whether or not he’ll have the backbone to not only stand up to fundamentalist abroad, but in this country.

well, he’s done pretty well so far, John, in terms of ‘mettle’. I don’t think there’s any real reason to doubt him, or his ability to surround himself with smart, capable people.
