Obama “deeply concerned” about Gaza
Barack Obama has broken his silence about the situation in Gaza – it seems as a result of the latest Israeli attack, which killed 40 at a United Nations school. From MSNBC.com:
“President-elect Barack Obama said he was “deeply concerned” about civilian casualties in Gaza and Israel.”
Hmm. Well, it’s better than a statement of support for Israel, which is just about what every other American politician is spouting.

When Obama finally does speak, it will be in support of Israel. Remember his speech to AIPAC? Don’t expect him to speak out against Israel, cuz he’s not gonna do it.

hi Squarepeg – I know he’s never *not* going to support Israel. but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will support them unreservedly (eg as Bush has done) – or support them without also expressing concern about the loss of Palestinian lives, and/or without trying to broker a peace deal in the region. I wonder if his silence thus far has been as much about this, as about ‘there’s only one President at a time’…
