On Tuesday 20th January, Quintessentially and The Chicago Rib Shack in Knightsbridge will be hosting one of the hottest parties celebrating Barack Obama’s inauguration as President of the United States. There’s not long to go and tickets are moving fast for what promises to be the most anticipated event of the New Year. The party begins at 4pm with LIVE footage of the inauguration from Washington DC and will go on until late. DJ Philly (Ministry of Sound, Chinawhite) will be spinning the decks and live music comes courtesy of singer Patrick Alan and his band who have previously performed with Will Smith, Wyclef, Justin Timberlake, Estelle and Christina Aguilera.
Tickets are priced at GBP 60 (+VAT) per person and include reserved seating (subject to availability), free beer and party food from 4pm until 10pm, but the celebrations will continue until late. To book, please email events@quintessentially.com.

I’d like to plug the one going on at one of my local watering holes, the great East Dulwich Tavern in, erm, East Dulwich, London SE22. the bar manager Ray is American which is probably partly why they’re hosting a big ol’ party.

The inauguration of President Barack OBAMA will be screened live at Visions Nite Spot. The inauguration takes place at around 4pm (British Time). Please join us at Visions and witness this event in an environment where you are not afraid to be ‘over-enthusiastic’ in your excitement about such a momentous event.
For those who who cannot make the live screening the celebrations will go on into the night. So pop down after you have taken care of your business. There will be many different performances on the night, comedians, poets, motivational speakers and an open mike session for lay-poets. There will be a slot for people to give SHORT statement saying what the election of Barack Obama means to them and what they personally are going to do to help effect change.
Copies of Barack’s two books will be prizes in the raffle.
As the night goes on, we expect this event to turn into a party. There will be music and dancing till 1am.
Entry to this event will be free, but please bring cash for the raffle and donations towards all of the work that the 100 engages in for our community. Our appreciation will be demonstrated.

Thursday 22nd January
Singing Songs of Hope and Inspiration
@
Visions Nite Spot
588a Kingsland High Road
Hackney, E8 4AH
Karaoke returns to Visions, for one night only. By Thursday, the euphoria of witnessing an event, which could change the course of the world, will still be palpable. If we don’t let off steam, we may explode. So let’s have a night of fun and jokes, in our own way. Visions do Karaoke ‘Black man style’. So while its unlikely that you will hear someone’s rendition of “Wonderwall”, expect numerous versions of “Stand By Me”, “The Greatest Love of All”, “Zim Zimma” and “Water No Get Enemy”.
The quality of the singing will most likely vary, as all comers are welcome. There will be a prize for the best version of Alexandra (X Factor) Burke’s, Hallelujah. There will also be prizes for the hardest tryers.
Come along and join in the singing, or just watch the fun and chill.

What were you doing when history was made?
On the 5th November 2008 the world as we know it changed forever. We observed history in the making when American’s elected their first black President of the United States of America.
Moments in history are either remembered or celebrated. Do you remember where you were when:
• Nelson Mandela was freed
• The Berlin wall came down
• Prince Charles and Lady Diana were married
• The Twin Towers came under attack
• John F Kennedy was assassinated
• The 2012 Olympic bid was won
• Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America
As American’s celebrate the inauguration of their new President, we in the UK want to join our American cousins in celebrating change and stand with them in saying not only “Yes we can!”, but “Yes we DID!”
http://www.redshoeevents.co.uk Red Shoe Events would like to invite you to our Barack Obama Inauguration Celebration at citybunker in Canary Wharf, to join in unity and with pride at this historic moment. This is to be celebrated not just by people of colour, but by all nations as it signifies a phenomenal moment in history.
Red Shoe Events will be hosting this celebration at a sophisticated venue in Canary Wharf. Tickets include a drinks reception between 6pm and 7pm, live band and entertainment, food, and a feed of key moments from his campaign and inauguration on giant screens.
Should you wish to book online there is a discount of 15% .
