Interesting footnote: did you know that when you click ‘Confirm’ on a British Airways booking, fireworks go off outside your house? Amazing.

    I hope you’re planning this very thoroughly. Right now I live like 20 miles from D.C. and the logistics of getting in that town on that day baffle me. This isn’t going to be a normal inauguration for obvious reasons.

    Is your hotel actually in D.C.? Because if it’s in the outlying suburbs either in Maryland or Virginia then you’ll be relying on the Metro rail system ( http://www.wmata.com ). The only problem is that unless they make huge accommodations for the occasion, I don’t see the system being very efficient that day. Who knows, though? I’ve never been to the inauguration before

    I’m staying with friends of friends, not sure where exactly… I couldn’t really afford to do it otherwise. I have been to DC once before – the subway system seemed very good (and aesthetically pleasing ;-) )
