Obama immediately responds to Clinton’s fear ad

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Within hours of Hillary Clinton airing her new ‘fear’ TV advert in Texas, Barack Obama’s campaign team hit back with an ad of their own. Almost parodying her message, Obama’s response plays his strongest hand - that he alone had “the judgment and courage to oppose the Iraq war from the start.” Clinton’s ad is now something of an own goal every time it airs. It’s not known whether it will be pulled before the Texas primary on Tuesday.

In desperation the Clinton campaign resorts to fear

Friday, February 29th, 2008

When a Democrat resorts to the worst tactics of the fear-mongering Republicans, one can be assured that they do not understand what Barack Obama means when he says that he stands for change. But today it emerged that Hillary Clinton has done just that with a new TV advert suggesting that Barack Obama can’t be trusted to keep Americans safe while they sleep. Watch it to see whether it makes you as nauseous as us.

Forget for a moment that when it came to the crunch Hillary Clinton failed to read the intelligence reports about Iraq, but voted in favour of the war anyway. Don’t even think about what might happen if the red phone should ring at 3am if she were Commander-in-Chief. Just watch the next video - Michelle Obama introducing Barack early on in this primary contest.

Having seen the two, are you now clear what Obama means by change we can believe in?

Hollywood stars and musicians unite in new will.i.am viral video

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am says that he was “a fan of Obama, but I didn’t know why at that time. I thought it was cool that, you know, a Senator, a bi-racial Senator was running for President. Then I saw the New Hampshire speech and that’s when, like wow, I had a totally different outlook on Barack Obama. He inspired me.” Shortly after, will.i.am put together what has now become the most viewed viral phenomenon ever - the song and video simply called ‘Yes, we can‘.

He’s now followed this support with a new song and video, called ‘We Are The Ones’, featuring a plethora of well-known musicians and stars of the stage and screen including Jessica Alba, Ryan Phillippe, George Lopez, John Leguizamo, Luis Guzman, and Macy Gray. Whether this will achieve the same incredible response that ‘Yes, we can’ received is out of his hands, but if you like it, pass it on!

Ohio is an uphill struggle for Obama

Ohio opinion tracking poll

Barak Obama still trails Hillary Clinton by 8 points in the latest poll for the Ohio primary. As our tracking poll shows, it’s a long way from the 21 point deficit he faced at the end of January, but with just a week to go it’s still going to be an uphill struggle to close the gap.

The Ohio primary has become yet another key contest, after the Clinton camp played down expectations of victory in the other so-called “firewall” state, Texas, as a poll indicated that Obama’s support was 57% to Clinton’s 43%. Should Obama win Texas and Ohio it must surely be the final humiliation Clinton’s campaign could endure.

News from the Campaign: A hundred versus a million

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Obama’s Campaign Manager David Plouffe has written to supporters with news of another move by the Clinton campaign which is “the opposite of how politics should work, and the opposite of how Barack Obama has run this campaign”:

“News broke yesterday that a few wealthy Clinton supporters are gearing up for a massive spending campaign to boost her chances in the big upcoming contests in Texas and Ohio on March 4th. The so-called “American Leadership Project” will take unlimited contributions from individuals and is organized the same way as the infamous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

“ABC News reports that this group is seeking 100 Clinton supporters to each give $100,000 to fund its $10 million effort to promote Senator Clinton and “contrast” her positions with Barack Obama’s.”

Plouffe goes on to say that this strategy raises legal and ethical issues, and that it (most worryingly for those of us hoping for and supporting change) demonstrates an approach to politics that is a “game that is played to win at all costs”.

Video: Clinton’s “Change you can Xerox” quip booed at debate

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Hillary Clinton was clearly booed while trying to discredit Obama during the debate yesterday again proving that negative comments do not win votes.

Unlike Hillary, Barack kept on message throughout the debate and maintained his dignity to the end.
